I have recently returned from a short holiday walking the Suffolk coast between Aldeburgh and Southwold. Whilst there I stayed in a charming cottage at Dunwich where erosion has taken a toll on the coastline transforming what was once a great Medieval sea port into a small village crouching behind a shingle bank and crumbling cliffs. I felt inspired by the atmosphere of the location to paint my impression of the deserted beach on a cold and bright Autumn morning. My painting shows a solitary figure on a deserted beach looking beyond a cluster of small fishing boats towards Sizewell head. I hope you will like my painting which will feature in my gallery shortly and may remind you of your own visits to this beautiful area.
